Mary K. Norvell, Senior Counsel
Ms. Norvell graduated from the University of Southern California Law Center (J.D., 1984) and the University of California, Los Angeles (B.A., cum laude, 1977). She was admitted to the California Bar in 1985.
Practice Areas
Mary Norvell focuses on business and transactional matters for healthcare providers, with emphasis on nonprofit, tax-exempt corporations; public, nonprofit/tax-exempt, and proprietary hospitals and health systems; independent physician/provider associations; integrated health care networks; tax-exempt financing; licensure; anti-kickback and Stark regulatory healthcare compliance; and managed care contracts.
Ms. Norvell also has extensive experience in the general areas of corporate, partnership, limited liability companies; financing, real estate, and general contract and business law as applied to the healthcare industry. Her expertise includes structuring, negotiating and documenting a wide variety of transactions for hospitals and health systems, including joint ventures with physician groups (e.g. imaging centers, licensed surgery centers); hospital facilities, equipment and real property sales and acquisitions and financing; healthcare facilities and services management arrangements; and physician contracts with hospitals (including physician recruitment arrangements, coverage and call agreements, and other personal services agreements).
Ms. Norvell’s financing experience includes governmental, tax-exempt and taxable bond financing for public hospitals and health systems, tax-exempt hospitals and health systems, proprietary hospitals, and public schools (including charter schools), as well as real and personal property financing.
